This Privacy Policy describes the practices of Sterling Payment Technologies, manager of the Bank of Hampton Roads CheckCard Rewards program (the "Program") in gathering and using information about Program enrollees, for information provided or transactions you conduct online. Sterling is committed to protecting your privacy and will not share any of your information with any third party without your permission.

When you register for the Program, we obtain information about you from Bank of Hampton Roads to enroll you in the Program, and we collect additional information you provide to us on this website. Additionally, we obtain information about the purchases you make on your card, so that we may credit you with rewards as you make qualifying purchases at participating retailers. We may also ask you additional questions that we believe will help us provide better service to you. We may share information with Bank of Hampton Roads, the sponsor of the Program, for the purpose of maintaining your enrollment in the Program, determining your qualifying spending, serving you under the Program, and redeeming your rewards.

Sterling has never and will never engage in the practice of sending unsolicited emails, or SPAM. Sterling's e-mail policy is entirely permission-based, which means that every e-mail on the list is there because it was specifically subscribed. Sterling does not engage in the practice of buying, selling, or renting e-mail addresses and will never intentionally send information to someone who has not specifically subscribed to the Program or requested to receive it.

Security

We maintain security measures to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the data under our control. We also require service providers we use to do the same. We also use SSL technology to protect any credit card information you provide to us.

Compliance with Legal Process

We may disclose personal information if we are required to do so by law or we in good faith believe that such action is necessary to: comply with the law or with legal process; protect and defend our rights and property; or protect the personal safety or property of our users or the public (among other things, this means that if you provide false information or attempt to pose as someone else, information about you may be disclosed as part of any investigation into your actions).
